player exchange programme

PLAYER EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

Player exchanges will give the opportunity for young adults (approximately 18 to 23) to develop their love of the game by playing overseas for a season. Primary focus will be to engage with schools and clubs in New Zealand and South Africa.

The Whānau way

Motivation, aspiration and opportunity are at the heart of what Matt wanted for players. He believed exchanges like this would provide unique opportunity not only to hone rugby skill but to widen the horizons of players by experiencing different cultures, approaches and gaining new friendships.  With his background in New Zealand, Matt had been working for some time on trying to make these programmes happen – the Foundation plans to honour that intent.
