transition to senior rugby

TRANSITION TO SENIOR RUGBY

Providing inspirational coaches to clubs to help them retain and engage with the ‘lost’ generation of players. Many players leave rugby after school and the Foundation believes that being part of team for life can have lasting impact. The Foundation will be working hard to provide programmes to help clubs retain their players and support adults from all backgrounds to engage with the support, whether they have played before or not.

The Whānau way

Matt wanted to provide the right circumstances and environment where young players coming into senior rugby “could find their place’. He had several coaching, social and “whanau” ideas that would help keep young people involved, making that move from school to adult rugby. This meant developing players into leaders and installing the importance of contribution and legacy into their love of the sport and learning their long-term place within the Rugby family. Through providing other inspirational coaches and leaders like Matt, we want to help them make rugby their sport for the rest of their lives.
